There are many wise and beautiful Tolkien quotes

It can safely be stated that J. R. R. Tolkien, throughout his many years of writing books, has certainly written many wise and beautiful things to quote. This list will consist of 50 quotes from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings Trilogy and The Hobbit.

If you intentionally look to find quotes from inside these four books, you will discover it is not all difficult to locate a plethora of good quotes, and little wonder considering that combined the books amount to a total of 1501 pages.

The list of quotes below includes some of my very favorite quotes from Tolkien. Some are longer, while others are significantly shorter. I would love to hear from you which ones are your favorite, or which resonate with you the most. Please feel free to share that with me in the comment section at the end of the post.

But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now.
