I have always loved strawberries (who doesn’t, right?), and the title of this book certainly worked for me. I read Strawberry Girl by Lois Lenski, when I was probably between the ages of 7 and 9, and I loved it. I recently re-read it, and loved just as much as I did the first time reading it.
You can find it on amazon.ca
Strawberry Girl is the delightful story of the ridiculous feud between little Birdie Boyer’s Family, and the Slaters. The Boyers have just moved to a farm Florida, in the early twentieth century. They intend to raise cattle, but their neighbors, the Slaters when a feud arises, intend to foil their plans. A story of back and forth bickering, planting strawberries, raising cattle and pigs, Strawberry Girl is a very entertaining story, with a most satisfying ending.
This is still one of my favorite reads. I would rate this with 5 stars, and recommend it to most anyone who reads.
